Abstract
We are living in turbulent times. COVID-19 has disrupted all levels of our societies. Political turmoil and a new economic crisis arise in the wake of the pandemic. Likewise, the climate crisis becomes increasingly tenacious and acute, causing natural disasters and mass migration across the globe. In order to develop robust responses and sustainable solutions to the mounting global challenges, there is an urgent need for new and innovative forms of collaborative leadership, governance, and political, social and economic participation.
In a combination of digital and physical forums, the Roskilde Conference 2021 brings engaged scholars together to exchange theoretical perspectives, methodological strategies and empirical findings on some of the most pressing issues of our time. The conference is part of the first annual Grasp Festival, a three-day festival of art, music, exhibitions, performances, talks, round table discussions, workshops and innovation labs. In between sessions, you are free to explore the intriguing festival site at Musicon – an creative area of urban regeneration that acts as a living case of participatory and collaborative urban development. Organized in close collaboration with the renowned Roskilde Festival, the Grasp Festival guarantees to leave lasting impressions in the minds of all participants.
Addressing the main theme of “Sustainable Governance and Innovation in Turbulent Times”, the conference is organized in four intertwining tracks of scholarly exchange:
- Political leadership, collaborative governance and public-private partnerships
- Local value chains and social entrepreneurship
- Social movements, citizenship and creative activism
- Climate change, environmental issues and biodiversity
