Abstract
As long as the leadership, critical and general infrastructure, economy, citizens and defense mechanisms of Denmark, are depending on information and communication technology (ICT) systems, attacks from cyberspace, will constitute a threat to society. However, are these threats really a serious security problem, which may ultimately threaten the cohesiveness of Denmark? This thesis should be seen, as a contribution to the discussion, concerning the following overall subject for this thesis: “Security of Denmark in relation to the threat from cyberspace” Subsequent to this, the following question is to be analyzed: “Should the threat from cyberspace be considered as a serious risk for the security of Denmark?” This thesis present a system analysis with the purpose of identifying cyber threats against Denmark, and to identify to which extend the readiness system can handle these in relation to protecting the state of Denmark. The overall conclusion is that the population and the civilian sector of the general infrastructure constitute weak links in the system. Since these systems simultaneously contain some of the key elements of the state's cohesiveness, these two systems constitute a real threat against the system as a whole, due to the cyber-threat.
