Abstract
This thesis will examine with which perspective in regard to international politics theory Denmark should formulate its future cyber security strategy. Can such a strategy be based on international forums and multilateral cooperation - or does Denmark as a state ultimately have to look after its own interests? The analysis shows that Denmark's strategic allies, USA and England both have formulated their strategies towards international cooperation and bilateral and multilateral agreements
Common to all three nations are that much of the critical infrastructure is not owned or controlled by the state. There is therefore also in a Danish context, a need for cooperation with the private sector. A Danish strategy must similar to the US and UK incorporate and include the private sector and industry in its approach to cyber security.
This thesis concludes that a future Danish strategy for cyber security should be anchored in a liberal perspective and provides a vision for cyberspace to guide national actions. This thesis sets out, on the basis of the analysis, a design that can act as a frame work for the formulation of a Danish cyber security strategy that contains the essential elements on which the strategy should be formulated on.
