Abstract
The problem of maritime insecurity in the Gulf of Guinea is not a new phenomenon, but a contemporary form of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea has arguably developed over the past 25 years to be more organized and violent. Besides the issue of how the phenomenon of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea has developed,the area has also gained more and more attention internationally. There is no doupt that piracy today is seen as a global threat – also from a Danish perspective. In this report the authors focus on several aspects of piracy that follows from the latest development in the area.
