Reading Test in accordance with STANAG 6001

As a first of its kind, this DNK-NOR project developed and delivered a new bi-level reading test in accordance with NATO standards i.e. STANAG 6001 which sets language proficiency requirements for the alliance.

STANAG Testing at Level 4 (expert)

The Working Group on level 4 was formed at the 2010 BILC Conference in Istanbul. Its goal is to develop a conceptual framework of level 4 proficiency, amplify the STANAG 6001 level 4 descriptors in all four skills, and develop a prototype level 4 test as a model, which nations can use as the basis of their national level 4 test development. The proficiency requirement of a number of posts at NATO HQs is labelled as level 4. The test being developed here may be used to assess whether the incumbents slated for, or already in, these posts have the required proficiency. The knowledge gained from the development and trialling of this test will be applied to the development of tests in the other three skills.
