02/07/2012Providing for Peacekeeping Project aims to generate and disseminate new knowledge about UN Member States and their approach to UN-led peacekeeping operations in order to: 1) help “broaden the base” of troop- and police-contributing countries (TCC/PCCs) for UN-led operations; 2) improve the quality of troop and police contributions to peacekeeping operations; and 3) fill key capability gaps in UN peacekeeping operations. Through commissioned research and regular convening, the project aims to develop a better understanding of what encourages or discourages states from contributing to UN-led peacekeeping operations. Such knowledge will help the UN Secretariat to develop tailored outreach strategies for individual Member States to meet current and future demands in this area.
